Measuring Tips
Measuring for replacement or bespoke cushion pads
When measuring your cushions for a quote for replacement cushion pads, the measurements need to be taken from seam to seam of the outer cushion cover rather than the existing cushion insert.
In order to obtain these measurements accurately, first ensure that the cover is empty. Lay the cover on a flat surface and gently smooth out any creases without stretching it. Place a ruler or measuring tape on one side of the cover, aligning it with the stitched seam. If there is piping, gently push it aside to align the ruler with the seam. Measure from one seam to the other to determine the size of the cover.
If you do not have a cover and are making a cushion from scratch, please contact us for specialist sizing advice.
Measuring for replacement sofa cushions
To obtain a quote for replacement sofa cushions, you will need to provide the measurements of your cushion covers rather than the existing inserts, as new inserts will be made to fit the covers.
When measuring a cushion cover ensure that it is empty. Lay the cover on a flat surface and smooth out any creases without stretching it. Place a measuring tape or ruler on one side of the cover, aligning it with the stitched seam. If the cover has piping, gently push it aside to align the ruler with the seam. Measure across to the seam on the opposite side and repeat this process for both the length and width of the cover. If your cushion has a border (depth/height), use this same technique to take that measurement as well.
For shaped cushions, you only need to provide the largest length, width, and, if applicable, depth measurements. You can submit drawings for simple shapes. For more complex-shaped cushions, you may need to send us a template or the cover itself to ensure we accurately replicate the shape if you decide to place an order.

Measuring for a bespoke bench or window seat cushion
When measuring for a bench or window seat cushion, you will need to take the measurements of the space where the cushion will sit.
To obtain these accurately, measure the full length and width of the widest parts of the space from one side to the other. If the area is shaped, only take the largest length and width measurements.
For simple shapes you can submit drawings. For more complex spaces, you may need to make and send us a template of the area for us to work from if you decide to place an order.
Once you have the length and width of the space, decide on the depth of your cushion. A typical bench or window seat cushion thickness ranges from 4cm to 10cm but should be chosen based on your preference and style.
